This Spring we planted a variety of produce in our garden. Rasberries are doing great! Cantelopes are coming right along! Watermelon was perfect! Peppers and Cucumbers were plentiful. However the pumpkins got killed off early by bugs and this plant is either the spaghetti squash or the crook neck squash.... As you can see it is very large and growing over the fence now. It never grew anything just got really big. I decided it must not have gotten polinated....
That was until recently we noticed it was growing this....(see below) Ha ha we have never seen this kind of squash. We consulted with our local farmer (Aka Chief...aka Matthew Peterson) and he doesn't know what it is either.
We cut one open and it smells and tastes (yes I ate some) like a cucumber.
If anyone would care to enlighten us on our newly discovered produce feel free. Until then we are going to carve it for halloween ha ha

You my friends are the proud owners of a gooseneck squash plant and it looks like you got yourself there a mighty fine looking gooseneck! I am sure of it now that i have seen a bigger picture. May i recommend a nice fall dinner with the main entree being a warm, creamy bowl of gooseneck squash soup, garnished with some fresh oregano, sided with a loaf of warm homemade bread. Now doesnt that sound lovely?
